Stephen Fitzpatrick

Research Associate

Stephen has been a student of geography for 6 years. During his undergraduate degree, his focus was on accessibility of local food networks and smart urban planning. He paired his coursework with professional experience in Conservation and Social Planning, as a resource planner and GIS technician. Building on his interests of accessibility, Stephen's current work focuses on using urban planning and design as a tool to provide active transportation opportunities for children, particularly the journey to and from school. During his time in HEAL, Stephen has had the opportunity to work on several projects including Travelwise Summerside and Healthy City, Active London. His other research interests include community planning, neighbourhood revitalization, suburban retrofitting, and sustainable development.
